The Breakfast Club has always been one of my favorite movies. It’s a classic from 1985 and about some kids that get stuck in detention and end up learning more about each other than what they previously thought they knew while under the spell of preconceived notions.
This whole The Breakfast Club idea is coming back in a new drama starring singer, actor, and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reality show star Teairra Mari titled DETENTION written by Marc Cayce. Detention sounds to be a movie skinned from the concept of my 1985 favorite but bringing it up to date, similar to how Love Don’t Cost A Thing of 2005 starring Nick Cannon and the 1987 comedy Can’t Buy Me Love are like siblings just of different decades.
If all goes well with DETENTION that is supposed to release in June of 2015, it should be a winner. Although the concept of detention is fairly a simple one, things do get complex as the hours pass. How else can detention be made fun but in a well put together movie? Check out a small clip of The Breakfast Club below and then think in the now with DETENTION.
