Nia Long recently did a cover for Monarch magazine, and on the inner pages, Nia goes into the one thing that many question – where has she been and is she coming back? In a quote from Monarch she answers that question after the jump while Omar Epps lets the movie cat out of the bag.

Work has been slow for me. I think it’s been slow for everybody. But certainly it’s been slow for me, but there’s two reasons for that. One, is because I have no desire to repeat performances and to do the same things over and over again. I’ve been very careful and selective, and I also wanted to take this year to do some very personal growth. So I wanted to take time out for myself and really work on some personal things. Every now and then you have to take a step back and look at what you’ve accomplished, and when things slow down that’s when you really have to do the work. When you see actors and artists on the red carpet, you’re seeing the manifestation of something they worked really hard for. So if you don’t have the downtime to create and focus in on your next creative venture, you really become depleted.
Things may be turning around for Nia right about now, however, because word is that her and Omar Epps are working on a project for the big screen. There aren’t too many details on what it is, but it isn’t Mooz-lum, a film still yet being made, but there is definitely something brewing, according to Omar himself from twitter:
Nia Long & I are cooking up something special for the big screen…
We wonders, we wonders…
Meanwhile, not all actors are finding it too hard to locate work despite the out and about drought in black Hollywood. For instance, Terrence Howard is starring in a killer flick called Little Murder and then Winnie along with Jennifer Hudson where he will play Mandela. Gabriel Union is a workaholic as well as she will be producing and starring in a new one for Lifetime called The Vow while she is cast in the Army Wives spinoff.
Maybe Nia Long can hook up with these two and get her new role on. We do miss her on screen presence.
