MTV Bans Lady Gaga & Beyonce “Telephone”Video (Update)

by INN THE BASEMENT on March 15, 2010

As fast as Lady Gaga and Beyonce put out that Telephone video, MTV banned it just as fast.  The video is honestly over the top suggesting murder by poison with a naked Lady Gaga running around in prison.  Check out the news report below on the MTV ban of the video.

This video only adds to the dark tone that follows Lady Gaga as a rumored cult figure.  Anyway, check the video here if you missed it.  As word goes, more stations will not show not even a peep of the video because of how “evil” and sexual it is, and then there is the children who may see it.  It glorifies violence amongst other things.  Honestly, I was really shocked to see Tyrese and Beyonce play such parts in the video.  Sure, they are artists but to go this deep in the name of Gaga…???  Beyonce already has to deal with the Jay-Z cult rumors that follow all the dark videos and lyrics along with Rihanna.  Just the entire video…too much and tasteless.  At some point, you have to think of others in your art, others such as young children.

UPDATE!!!

There has been an update to the video ban.  According to MTV, they haven’t banned the video.  Okay, here comes the drama!  Statement reads, according to Bossip:

MTV Rep: We have been airing Lady GaGa’s new video “Telephone” since Friday morning. Why CNN is reporting that we banned the vide, we are not sure. As to my knowledge, no one [from CNN] even checked with us to see if that was true but we are trying to get to the bottom of it as we speak.

Here is another statement:

MTV has deemed it inappropriate for its viewers to watch Lady Gaga’s “Telephone“ video, so the music channel is banning the provocative and controversial mini movie-cum-music video. Other networks are expected to follow MTV’s lead, but the millions of people who have seen the video on YouTube do not seem to mind.

The controversial video has riled the sensitivities of some people for its raunchy content, which includes lesbian kissing and a lot of boobs, not to mention parental-advisory-worthy lines. The video has received over 14 million hits just three days since its debut. “Telephone” opens with a bra-less Lady Gaga being escorted to her jail cell by two bra-flashing guards, as female inmates salivate at the new jailbird.

Who knows what was originally true and where these statements really came from @ MTV, but CNN has some explaining to do if this ban is a bald faced lie. Truly though, it is raunchy.
