Robert Pattinson Goes Racist In Interview? “Acting Like Negroes” With Description

by INN THE BASEMENT on February 23, 2010

Oh just what in the world flew past me…back it up.  Robert Pattinson has officially jumped on the racist bus and put “Negroes” in a silent and deaf section??  Here is what has gone down…but wait a minute – WHO SAYS NEGROES?   Okay now back to the story.

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson, the fanged one on Twilight Saga, has officially bumped his head, him and the person interviewing him at Details.  Why?  The word negro.    Below is how the interview went sourced from SFGate.

Jenny Lumet: Rob, did you know that every time you say actor or acting you lower your voice to a whisper?

Robert Pattinson: He’s genuinely startled. “I do?”

Jenny Lumet:Yes, so quietly it’s like you’re saying Negro.

Robert Pattinson: He laughs, lightens up. “What if we were ‘acting’ like ‘Negroes’? Then we’d be f**ked—we couldn’t hear anything. . . .”

Read more at SFGate…

So what in the world is going on here? Who knows but the two tossing the word Negroes around. Apparently in the eyes of Robert Pattinson, Negroes don’t speak or can’t hear…or is this a racist inside haha laugh “joke”.  Real talk, racism has played itself along with that lame statement from Pattinson because who in the world knows what he is talking about, but I would really like for him to explain this one.  He has just officially be branded a man with secret issues against African Americans.  And what was the interviewer on…the pipe? Do they walk around saying Negro silently all the time on the regular or something?? Again branded.

The craziest thing is that the title of the interview is Robert Pattinson On Life Beyond Twilight.  Would his beyond the twilight look like slavery?  Maybe…but WE aren’t having that now are we?

He was attempting to make a joke – which came off poorly. The interviewer says he always whispers when talking about acting and likens it to people whispering the word “negro”. So his joke is to say ‘Well then, imagine if we were negros acting? We’d really be screwed” – as in not being able to hear anything.

It wasn’t meant to be offensive. He tries to joke and seems uncomfortable in the spotlight all the time. It is totally ridiculous to say he is racist.

People are overreacting about this. This is hardly racism and you all need to shut up. I’m not a fan of twilight or Robert but this is stupid. Come on now, THINK A LITTLE!

I feel you on this one Sandyeddiag. True enough, Robert Pattison is a great actor, but if set up, he should have remained quiet on this one and moved on to the next point. It looks and sounds bad enough to brand, honestly. Bad interview at this point, it went sour.

I feel that the interviewer just set him up, and he was stupid enough to fall into the trap. Of course, she did it, no doubt, for ratings, but what is Robert’s excuse for making the “joke” that he made?….He needs to get control of himself, or his mouth could end his stupid career. Sure he’s “heart throb”, but I bet the media can easily find another “heart throb”.

Tricia, I can deal with that because what you said is exactly right…it is as if being black is at the bottom of the barrel or something, so I can agree with you 100% on this one. Great comment.

I’m convinced that Rob was baited, which is unfortunate, because I was certain that he and Jenny Lumet (the interviewer) were friends. They corroborated on the rewriting of the “Remember Me” screenplay. Rob spoke very highly of her – even referring to her as a genius. Although she is part “Negro”, she suggests that one’s use of the word is shameful. Why is that? Identity crisis, maybe? The only thing Rob may be guilty of is responding to her statement with a stupid joke. I feel that she was wrong to include those statements in the article, knowing that they would stir up controversy. I also feel that what she did was downright mean. For the record, I am a so-called “Negro”, and I don’t feel as though Rob’s joke was racist at all – just in poor taste. I question Ms. Lumet’s motivations.

This is not racism. What he was trying to say is that if actors spoke in hushed tones noone would hear what they were saying. When he said “acting like negroes” he whispered the word negroes.
Not racism.
