Gabourey Sidibe’s Mom A Subway Singer (Video)

One would automatically assume that if daughter is rich and winning awards here and there, mom is on the other end of the table reaping a bit of benefit, not just because she needs to be or wants to be, but because it’s simply like that for the most part.  Well, in Gabourey Sidibe’s situation, it doesn’t look quite that way.  Thing is that Sidibe’s mom, Alice Tan Ridley, is a subway singer and doesn’t feel that she needs to live off of her daughter’s wealth as she can make it on her own…singing in a subway as she has done for 18 years after teaching.  Watch her below do the dog on thing:

Diggin’ it and fair enough.  One thing though is that Gabourey’s mom was asked to play the role of her mom in Precious -that I didn’t know- but passed “the role” to her daughter who is now reaping the benefits.  One thing that I do hope is that, even with a strong willed mom like Gabourey has, her mom still takes cash flow from her every once in a while if Gabourey swings it her way because all of it is an amazing blessing.  She [Alice Ridley] has already proven that can do it on her own (raise a family and such), so a vacation…yes…from the subway.  At least for a month.  As Alice puts it “My name is not on Gabby’s paycheck”.  Well, Gabby’s name is etched in your womb for life, therefore, vacation time if it comes your way! Surely, though, I have this feeling that Gabby already fronted mom, and mom just loves to sing.  Still can’t be too certain about my thinking though as Gabby’s mom is saving for some more amps!  Come on, moms!
