Mary J Blige’s album Stronger With Each Tear is to be released officially on December 21st however, the album was leaked the other day and here is a small but sweet and honest review of the album. In one sentence, the album Stronger With Each Tear is Mary J Blige’s best album in a long long time. Seriously. There is a nice mix of meaning in the music and the overall beats in every single track aren’t overdone. It isn’t a shouty record as we know that Mary can do over the mic. There is no feel of strain or unhappiness that we have all become accustomed to hearing, and at the same time, Mary J Blige has managed to create an “emotionally controlled” album. Not too sad, not to over the top happy, but just right.
Mary J Blige/ Stonger With Each Tear
Tonight, which is one of the songs recently leaked, is already one of the chosen hot tracks of the CD, and The One has been played over and over on the airwaves, commercials etc, so we all knew what we were getting with that track.
Said and Done is the third track on the album about a woman needing to move on despite her mistakes, and yes, the making up and talking is and has been all good, but this time, it’s time to drop it all and move on because when it is all Said and Done, the mistakes that the woman has made are basically taking their toll. At the same time though, the woman still has love for him. This track is nice. The verses are very easy to get with, and it is an everybody song as things have happened in relationships however the love isn’t gone just because you have chosen to leave.
The fourth track is Good Love, and this song is about a woman in full lust and all for a man. The song isn’t explicit and the beat is fast moving, and if fits as the woman is asking the man if she is coming on too strong and is this the first time that he’s heard these things from a woman. Basically, the woman is trying to get with him for some Good Love..and fast. She’s straight up mesmerized. Good as well as playful track, something to bop your head to.
One of my favorite tracks on the album is Feel Good. This song is about haters. Yes the haters who stand around and watch you all night and day wondering if you think you are so hot and own the night. Well, obviously when people talk like this, they believe you do own the night. Despite it all, the woman in the song feels good, and she warns in the lyrics that trying to bring her down won’t work because she feels too good for all that! LOVE IT. It’s a feel good song and meant to remind any person to be themselves regardless of the haters, and if you end up owning the night, well…Feel Good. The beat of this song is hot as well as the lyrics…one of the best on the album
So far, so well worth the money.
On to the sixth track which is I Am, and need I say more about this track, but it is and will be hot for a long long time! I Am is all about a woman talking to her man who in the video really is just not listening to her as she says that no woman is going to do you like I do as far as basically everything! I Am has a smooth R& B sound that is way too hard to turn off once the song has started playing.
Each Tear is the most meaningful song on the album. It covers the whole vibe of emotion one gets when they truly need to tell someone something that is heartfelt and hadn’t, and when it all comes out it is beautiful and life changing. The essence of the song is no matter what you have done, you are loved and still will be stronger even after. No matter what has happened, the tears will make you stronger. Mary is focusing on praying for that loved one at night, no fighting, but desiring for that individual to be better and not fall apart. This song is the classic on the record that reminds not to waste moments, but make the most of them helping each other, not ripping through one another. Hot track.
I Love U is about a woman who is totally in love, but she is afraid to give her heart over to the man she loves because she has no idea how he feels in return. This is an R&B jam, and the chorus actually begins the song. I Love U reminds me of what I like to call and echo song as phrases are in reptition throughout the song, however, despite that, the song is rockable.
The ninth song on Stronger With Each Tear is Hood Love. Hood Love is hot because it goes into the whole gut of arguing, fussing and fighting but then the love stays there for make up time, and it is a good time. All about the ride or die love and that’s so hood.
Next, is an anthem song – Kitchen. Let the piano man play! Don’t let a girl in your Kitchen. This song is hot because it is the stone cold truth. Let a woman in your kitchen, she tries to steal on your investment, your man. It’s not that you can’t get any other man, but it’s just the fact that you already put in on that investment with time and effort. Uhh…so no…get out of the kitchen. Hot track! ANTHEM ALERT! ANTHEM ALERT! Kitchen is the one!
The eleventh song is In The Morning. This is a straight can’t lose it R&B sound about love and will you leave me or stay in the morning after all is over? All meaning aruguing fussing and fighting – the same old same old stuff talked about in music, however, Mary J Blige brings it with the track, and when she says morning, forget the r. It’s more like Moanin! That’s when you know she is singing and not talking!
The finale is I Can See In Color. When I first heard this track, it was one that was very different for Mary J Blige. Blues sounding as if she was back in the old school juke joints of the south. The sound gets down in your soul because it is one of those songs that take you back to a time that you may not have even lived, but heard about. Back in the day, the music wasn’t full of keyboard and guitar with auto and all that, but it was simple with a beat, and this is what this jam takes you back to. The mic ruled and Mary J ruled the mic with I Can See In Color. This is the take you back to that historic sound that once was lost, but Mary J Blige got it back. One of the best tracks on album.
Overall, Stronger With Each Tear is great from beginning to the end. This is her best album in a long time. Not one song is a disappointment. Well worth all the money. Good stuff from Mary J Blige.

I hear you on that, SilkCityP, because if anyone is in search of a hardcore style rugged R&B soul stirring album that gets to the root of the R&B sound, well, some of the tracks don’t go that deep. However, even though the tracks aren’t like I Can See In Color all the way through, the album is tough – even if some do believe Mary went with a lighter R&B flow or pop sound. Pop or no pop, R&B or no full R&B, the album is on it. Respect.
Mary’s vocals are never a disappointment, but the sound on this record is a huge disappointment! Its too pop & electric, and there is a lack of soul and grit in production. I Can See In Color is the blueprint for Mary at her best… but the overall production is very reminiscent of Growing Pains which was terrible.
