Erykah Badu Coming With “New Amerykah Part II: The Return Of The Ankh”

Erykah Badu - the name rings many bells when it comes to music and a sound all of her own.  When Erykah Badu first dropped on the scene as a major artist, the sound was a stunna.  Bought it up from the top.  From Baduizm, Mama’s Gun on to New Amerykah Pt. 1: 4th World War, the sound increasingly changed, and one can’t expect exactly the same from Erykah Badu in February 23rd when her latest album New Amerykah Part II: The Return Of The Ankh drops.

Now this new album is said to bring the Erykah flavor with Lil Wayne and many more.  Jump In The Air, which is rumored to not be on the new album, is one of the newest songs already released by Erykah Badu and Lil Wayne and you can get a listen to it below.  It’s a bit out of the way unlike anything yet, and actually, I was wondering if she would go back to the older flow of Baduizm or even Mama’s Gun, but it sounds like that won’t happen. Really, those two albums, coming from a personal standpoint, were Erykah’s best.

Of course, the chant is what Erykah Badu is all about, and this time for New Amerykah Part II, she is chanting more for women and what women travel through life going through, therefore, the overall theme seems like it may bounce off of lyrics stemming from Bag Lady which was a hot track from Erykah’s album Mama’s Gun.  There may even be a lyric or two on draw back from Kiss Me On My Neck - never can tell with Badu as she seems to really focus on the essence of a woman in her music as one can tell from Ye Yo, which is a favorite.

Though not exactly glued to Erykah Badu’s more recent sounds in the New Amerykahs, it will be interesting to hear the sound this go around as the beats are always dramatic and on point for the most part.  As far as the Ankh and what it is or stands for can be different for many people, however, generally it can go for “life” as it is derived from Egypt and the symbol actually comes from the make of a sandal in ancient Egypt.  Here is what it looks like below and it is pretty familiar.  Erykah Badu talks about life much in her song Ye Yo coming from a woman.
