The world knows him as the healthy Kareem Abdul Jabbar, athlete, coach and even writer, however what many didn’t know about Abdul Jabbar is that he is battling cancer - leukemia.

Just yesterday November 9th, he spoke about this disease and how stunned he was to find out about his condition on last December.  Kareem Abdul Jabbars condition is cancer of the bone and bone marrow.

Man, this is so sad.  The only way that I can even think of Jabbar is health and athletism, humor and just a player with not too many issues at all.  This is some terrible news that he has to now face the challenge of living and surviving with this awful disease.

“My first reaction was to deal with it, make that fight for my life.” This are the words of Kareem Abdul Jabbar according Sports of the Times.

“The whole idea of facing death calmly and doing all you can with your life up to that moment and to keep your objectives — that’s been the part of this that has made me.”

These are the words of Kareem, and we all hope that he outlives this disease.
