Jesus’ Orders When The Recession Hits The Church
A report at Church Solutions says that although people are coming to church at an increasing rate, the tithing and offerings are getting lower and lower. This has much to do with the economic recession that America is facing.
America has been here before, and actually, it has been worse as seen in the Depression. People being laid off of work, the families that take pride in doing things the right way seeming to get the raw deal at the end of the day. All of this while some of the people who caused most of the money woes sit back still sinking their teeth into these same hardworking, innocent people.
Then there is the church. Without the church, the congregation of people who make it necessary to lean on one another at all times, in wrong times and right times, bad and good times, communities would honestly fail. Outreach ministries tend to do much for the community, with or without the attention of media outlets. Mostly, this is the mission - to help heal the people spiritually, mentally, and even physically through love of Christ. Going to feed the hungry that wouldn’t get fed at times if it were not for the church. Huge donations both monetary and material, the church backs it all. So then what happens when the church gets laid off? Trouble…but it won’t be the end of anything.
Many people don’t actually see the full efforts of the church away from the pulpit. It is the action of the church many times to do so not for mankind to pat them on the back, but for God to get the glory. Desiring to continue their ministries, churches are losing money across the nation as even TD Jakes’ Potter’s House has had to lay off about 40 people according to the article in Church Solutions. At the end of the day, talking is worth more than money can sometimes buy. “Go and preach to the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost(Spirit)”…that churches will always be able to do for free. Why? Jesus’ orders.
The church in the end will be fine.
