Emergency Room Insanity...Who Is Truly Insane? Staff Or Patients?

It is shown on video tape that a woman who was said to be suffering from psychosis fell dead in the emergency room of Kings County Hospital Center Psychiatric Emergency Department.  In the video, she falls from the seat onto the floor and gets cornered in between the chairs obviously struggling.  In this case, we know that she is struggling not just to get up but to survive another breath.

This situation is sickening to watch as staff and even passers by see someone lying on the floor of an emergency room and not one person even tried to assist, get some help even.  Throughout the video, there is not a glimpse of a sense of urgency to help a woman who obviously needs it.  What is this world coming to?  Is it such the norm to see death that individuals have become detached from it, even to see someone in pain and agony and not even care to lift a finger to help?

The deceased is a Jamaican naive that, according to ABC, was admitted the previous day from psychosis.  Apparently, the hospital has a bad rep for being very apathetic to its upkeep and patient care.  This is more than a tragedy.  It is emergency room murder when the facility failed to even get the woman to a doctor.

Furthermore, calling the woman who passed away on the cold floor of a hospital psychotic?  How about all the people who passed her by?  Who is truly insane?  Can someone possibly be in a right state of mind when they think it something simple to watch someone fall over and possible hurt themselves and later on find that they passed away?  The first thing someone sane would do is at least attempt to get help or help themselves.  Maybe the staff should be evaluated...mentally that is.
