Mirika(ITB ): Janaya Black, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview with me and checking INN THE BASEMENT for a quick but worthwhile stay with us. For those who don't yet know, you are a woman of many different angles and avenues from being an author, songwriter, and owner of Black-Smith Enterprises.

What INN THE BASEMENT wants to learn more about first is your novel, The Breaking Point. With such a drawing title, tell us a bit more without giving it all up!

Janaya Black: "The Breaking Point " is a story that details the life of a woman who has endured nothing but hardship since a very young age.  She is a person of strong character and morals, but life just keeps beating her down and finally one day she snaps and kills her husband, who was also her childhood sweetheart.  It is a very emotional story that many people get so drawn into they forget that it is a work of fiction. You definitely need to have your tissue handy when reading this book.

Mirika( ITB : You began as a songwriter, and now it looks as if you are now managing rapper Jassasin's musical career. How difficult is it promoting yourself as well as this rapper, or is it more like taking care of two things at once - meaning author and songwriter/manager?

Janaya BlackIt wasn't something that I really stopped to think about, I just did it. I used different contacts and avenues that I was able to secure to promote my artist to promote my books as well. A lot of cross promoting so to speak. It was a lot of fun but very time consuming at the same time. Now that I don't do the artist management anymore I look back and wonder how I did both at the same time.

Mirika( ITB ): As the owner of Black-Smith Enterprises, tell us what that all entails along with the goal(s) of this enterprise as well as how to take advantage of the offers of Black-Smith Enterprises for those who desire to make their way with writing and film.

Janaya Black: Being the owner of Black-Smith Enterprises has been a huge learning experience for me.  God has blessed me with the opportunity to do something that many people only dream of doing, and that is to be able to create stories that entertain people visually and mentally.  My ultimate goal is to keep writing and publishing books and making movies, but on a much larger scale.  I eventually want to do plays as well.

Some of the services we offer to the public are press kits, ghostwriting, music video production, all forms of freelance writing for print and online publications, and in 2008 we will be offering a variety of writing seminars as it relates to movies and plays.

For anyone who would want to take advantage of the services we have to offer they need only to visit the website at www.black-smithenterprises.com and contact me via email.

Mirika( ITB ): You have written more than one novel, and a glimpse of the cover is great! As Told By The Other Woman seems exciting. Would you tell us about this novel as well and where they can be purchased?

Janaya Black: "As Told By the Other Woman" is about a young teenage girl who gets emotionally involved with a married man and she ends up killing his wife.  I wrote this story to kind of give insight as to the kind of things that can happen when people get careless in their actions and don't take their relationships and peoples feelings seriously. It all ties into the Prison Chronicles Trilogy series that these two books are a part of.  Both the "The Breaking Point" and "As Told By the Other Woman" can be purchased online from www.black-smithenterprises.com, www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, or special ordered through all major bookstores if they are not on the shelf.  I encourage men and women alike to read these books because both can relate to many of the thoughts and feelings that are portrayed.

Mirika( ITB ): On another note and more personal level, how did your childhood family life influence your decisions now as far as creating and being that lady entrepreneur?

Janaya Black:  My family has always pushed me to be the best at whatever it is I've done.  They never made me feel like there was anything I couldn't do if I put my mind to it.  They have been a huge influence on me as far as my work ethic and moral standards.

Mirika( ITB ): Thank you once again, Janaya Black, for your stay INN THE BASEMENT, and may your future shine even brighter for years to come.

Janaya Black: Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your production!
