R Kelly, the lyrical genious and monster of R&B music, has always attracted some of the best, the worst and the ugliest entertainment news since he landed on the scene in the early 1990s along with his group Public Announcement. What made R Kelly stand apart from his musical counterparts was the way he introduced sex in a major way to the arena. With hits such as Bump N Grind and Sex Me, R Kelly gave another sound to the lyrics in music - no guess work or metaphoric stand ins for what was really going on. On the other hand, his music was raw and to the point. Mostly all of his songs, of course, hit number 1 or close to it.

Soon after with the meeting of Aaliyah, who was the R&B singer now deceased from a plane crash, R Kelly produced a record with her entitled Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. This album took the industry by storm and so did the news of his marriage to the 15 year old new star, which was quickly annulled.



Finally, young women or young girls...this is what R Kelly is now going to trial over in May 2008. Child pornography - 14 counts. Disturbing but true. This is a big part of the worst news that could come down on a musical genious that wrote some songs with Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, in You Are Not Alone and then I Believe I Can Fly for the Michael Jordan movie Space Jam, including recording with Celine Dion in I'm Your Angel.

All big news aside, we don't know what is going to occur in court, but the fact is that he is going. From the video tape of R Kelly having sex with a 14 year old girl to more and more civil suits of alleged sexual crimes, R Kelly has much to defend.

His song Heaven, I Need a Hug which was released after all the commotion in his life regarding these criminal accusations is well titled because God only knows what will happen and what did happen.

We will see in 2008.  Until then, R Kelly still remains the best at his game and at the top of the charts.
